We have been busy gobbling up the nautical miles - and they tasted good! The end now feels like it's in sight, as the first crew has crossed the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge finish line to win the race in 41 days, two hours and 38 minutes. Huge congratulations to Locura Rows the Atlantic!

This Christmas was my first without my 21-year-old son, Luke, who is currently half-way across the Atlantic in a tiny rowing boat. He and his best friend Jamie (the 2 Boys in a Boat) are taking part in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge and if they complete the race they will break the world record for the youngest team to row the Atlantic.

We have been crossing the Atlantic Ocean as part of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge for almost two weeks now, and what an eventful few days it has been! The race began with fantastic weather, and at one point we were lying in second position, which is a huge achievement - we were ecstatically happy!

More good news in this week as Robert 'Bertie' Portal and James Cash have now less than 1,000nms to row. It's strange how we all talk about them only having xxx miles further to row, as if they've just popped out for an afternoon's jolly on a river, picnic hamper in tow.
