Dementia Awareness Week, organised by the Alzheimer's Society, is this week. It is an annual event designed to shed some light on a condition that is all too often often misunderstood, and to encourage anyone who feels as if they, or someone they are close to, might be suffering with symptoms to take some action.

There's something very nice and warm about Neil Diamond - he's like an old friend, a comfy pair of slippers, he's your favourite uncle. You see, I'm saying all this and I've never even met the guy. But reading about him confirms my thoughts.

Growing up in Liverpool, I would have thought of a vegetarian as a wimp... I've been a vegetarian for a long time now and over the years I've seen how the attitudes have changed around the world, so I'm not surprised when I see new research that shows more and more people are increasingly adopting 'meat free eating'. Even 20 years ago, it could sometimes be difficult to find vegetarian options in good restaurants. Now it's great to see more and more choice with some brilliant creative dishes in restaurants, cafés and supermarkets.
