A 77-year-old British woman has become the oldest person to sail around the world solo and unassisted. Jean Socrates arrived back in British Columbia on Saturday, September 7 after spending 330 days alone at sea. She began her voyage back in October 2018.
Susie Goodall is awaiting rescue by the Chilean authorities after her boat was irreparably damaged during a storm. She is the youngest skipper and the only woman competing in the round-the-world Golden Globe Race.
She was the second person on the same boat to die.
