Smart cities are still attainable, but we're learning from experience that the big bang approach isn't always best.
When we arrived at Wireless we headed to the guest area to have a drink in the sunshine. In this cushty area (which had actual real grass) there was a BBQ, a couple of bars with some of Cirque Du Soir's performers scattered around. It was a pretty nice bubble, but we couldn't stay for long as we had to try and see Frank Ocean and Snoop Dogg at pretty much the same time.
Cambridge Consultants took a high-performance road bike with an electronic gear changer and cut the wires between the controls and the gears, adding a CSR Bluetooth Smart Ready module to connect the gears to buttons on the handle bars. The important thing here is that the wireless connection enables you to bring in the intelligence of your smartphone or media player.
So, I have been using Siri on my iPhone 4S for three weeks now, and I have to say I am pretty impressed. However, Siri is still in beta, and that means that there is still plenty of new functionality to come. Here is my list of the top five developments I want to see for Siri in the next few months.
