Climate activist Greta Thunberg told the world's business leaders at the virtual World Economic Forum, usually held in Davos, that the time for "small steps in the right direction" to deal with climate change is over.

The World Economic Forum takes place in Swiss ski resort days before Britain is due to leave the European Union.
Starting at midnight on June 13, women in Switzerland began a series of demonstrations to protest gender-based workplace inequality. According to a World Economic Forum report, Switzerland ranks 44th for wage equality in a 2018 study of 149 countries. Despite enacting gender equality laws in 1991, Swiss women still earn on average 20% less than their male counterparts.
Mohammed Hassan Mohamud, who has been a refugee in Kenya for two decades, gave an impassioned plea to the political and business elites gathered in the Swiss ski resort of Davos to do more than pay lip-service to the plight of millions of displaced people.
Oxfam has released a report ahead of the 2019 World Economic Forum meeting in Davos highlighting how low taxes on the world’s wealthiest has led to inequality that is ‘out of control’. Taxes on the super rich are at the lowest level they’ve been in decades, while hundreds of millions of children across the globe go without education and millions struggle to access healthcare, according to Oxfam. They suggest that a 0.5 percent increase in taxes on the wealthiest one percent could provide the funds to support those education and health services.
