We are an island race, this means we have always been proudly independent, and also completely reliant on integrating foreigners.
Now that the dust has settled around the election results, is it possible to see the bigger picture, or are we still being whipped into a frenzy by the media and UKIP?
According to anotherangryvoice the much exaggerated UKIP revolution meant they didn't win control of a single council anywhere in the country. They didn't win a single seat in any of these places either: Liverpool, Leeds, Sunderland, Wigan, Manchester, Burnley, Gateshead, Preston, Carlisle, Blackburn, Trafford, St. Helens, Salford, Stockport and many more Northern towns and cities.
In the media, willing converts to UKIP argue that the UK island is too small and already overpopulated.
The UK is actually rated 53rd in the most densely populated countries in the world. Hardly packed to overspill, unlike the very popular Monaco which is second, and Gibralta in fifth place. Both favourite destinations for our tax avoiding crowds.
UKIP and Conservative supporters claim London is similarly overcrowded.
It's not over-packed. London sits in 43rd place in the most populated cities, and has an amazing 38% of green space. Hardly bursting at the seams.
These fearful people claim immigrants are changing our culture.
That is true, but it is also true ever since we became an island over 8000 years ago. In that sense we are all immigrants.
The argument goes that immigrants are not contributing to our society or taxes.
In 2009 the Centre for Research and Analysis of Migration showed migrants from central and eastern Europe who joined the EU in 2004 were 60% less likely than native-born Brits to claim benefits, and 58% less likely to live in council housing. They also showed these A8 immigrants paid more than they took out year on year. The Office for Budget Responsibility stated ' most recent evidence for the UK is supportive of the view that net inward migration has had a positive fiscal impact'.
They think the NHS is falling apart under the strain of immigrants.
The statistics show the opposite, if it wasn't for immigrants the NHS would be even nearer collapse. 14% of professionally qualified clinical staff and over 26% of doctors are foreign nationals. The British Medical Association (BMA) states 'many NHS services would struggle to provide effective care to their patients' without these foreign nationals.
The argument continues that we are paying out huge amounts of benefit for scroungers.
In 2012 just 0.7% of benefits were overpaid due to fraud. Welfare fraud is smaller than accidental overpayments due to error. It's also smaller than the amount underpaid to those entitled to it. Far more is being lost through tax evasion, scroungers are dwarfed by avoiders. Revenue and Customs (HMRC) say the gap between tax owed and tax paid was £35bn in 2011-12.
We just don't have the resources to support more people.

The UK should separate itself from the EU.
The separation of the UK will be a backward step on so many different levels. We need to remain as part of the EU in order to maintain economic growth. We need to remain as part of the EU out of allegiance to our geographical and regional allies. If you visit Poland right now, you will witness the significance of the European Union as a powerful repellent to foreign invasion. The EU as a concept, a union of separate nations, allows us to be of value and significance in the world. The UK on it's own will have very little influence.
The UK has a proud tradition of independent thinking, that doesn't necessarily mean we have to become completely independent. We are reliant on other countries and peoples, we always have been and always will be. We need to take off the rose coloured glasses equating to some utopian past. We also need to realise just how beneficial outsiders and immigrants are.
