Five Caribbean Islands for Celeb-Spotting

Like the rest of us, celebrities sometimes need to get away from the humdrum of normal working life. The Caribbean is a hot spot for celeb-spotting. There are so many stars shining on the beach they can out-rival the number of twinkly lights in the sky on an overcast night.

Like the rest of us, celebrities sometimes need to get away from the humdrum of normal working life. The Caribbean is a hot spot for celeb-spotting. There are so many stars shining on the beach they can out-rival the number of twinkly lights in the sky on an overcast night.

Be they Hollywood film stars, singers or TV personalities, celebrities flock to the islands either for a romantic getaway with their beaus, to escape from their working woes, and even get hitched in a private ceremony. There's a celebrity sighting to be found in the Caribbean Islands from the Brit stars in Barbados to Johnny Depp in Jamaica. Here are the top five Caribbean islands where you might just find a superstar swimming, surfing or sun worshipping.

Barbados

A favourite with British celebs, the island of Barbados, film stars, reality TV personalities and scary X Factor judges.

Simon Cowell is a patron and benefactor of the Hope Dog Sanctuary, a charity that rescues unwanted dogs and strives to educate local owners on pet care. Cowell can often be seen on the beach cuddling a puppy or two (or three) and puckering up to them - and they call it puppy love.

British blokes Jude Law and Hugh Grant - two men known to be a tad serious sometimes - like to let loose Bajan-style on the island, escape from the paparazzi, hide from scandalous tabloid headlines and former nannies. The time to party is on Fridays for the Oistin's Fish Fry. So if you fancy partying with the bad boys and Barnadian locals hop on a shuttle bus from your hotel in Barbados.

Jamaica

American Pie meets Pirates of the Caribbean...well stars of the blockbuster franchises do anyway on the island of Jamaica. Along with loved up supermodels and American reality TV stars the land of wood and water is a wonderland of the rich and famous.

That Kate Moss has certainly had a fair few romantic dalliances. But the British supermodel settled down last year and married rocker Jamie Hince. The couple holidayed in Jamaica where photographer pal, Terry Richardson took snap shots of the loved up newly-weds.

While you may find Kate and hubby living it up loved-up-style on the island you may also spot her ex, Johnny Depp. Since taking up the role of Captain Jack Sparrow Johnny has embraced the Caribbean lifestyle. He holidays at Island Record's Chris Blackwell's resort (the former home of James Bond writer Ian Flemming).

Anguilla

The crystal clear waters of Anguilla are enough to attract the rich and famous, Academy Award winners and superstar singers.

When they're not on tour, producing the next hits in the music world or raising Blue Ivy Beyonce and Jay Z head to the island to stay, snorkel and swim.

When Kate Winslet tied the knot for the second time to Sam Mendes (she's since hooked up with Richard Branson's nephew Ned Rocknroll), she did it in a luxury villa Antigua. Sandra Bullock runs away from the Hollywood bright lights with her son, Louis, for a bit of fun in the sun.

Turks and Caicos

Hollywood's Golden Couples opt for Turks and Caicos for festive getaways, A-List elopements at the Parrot Cay Estate.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie choose the private Parrot Cay estate on Turks and Caicos as their festive getaway. Joining the duo were their six children, Brad's parents and his brother and sister.

Brangelina fans were disappointed when the rumours of a secret marriage on the island and estate proved to be just that. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner however did get married on the same island and same estate back in 2005.

St. Lucia

The island of St. Lucia is renowned for its beautiful beaches, resorts, customs and people. So of course, celebrities love the island. Kanye West took Kim Kardashian on a romantic island getaway in St. Lucia. Kim has remained smitten ever since. They're not the only ones to cultivate their love on the island.

Matt Damon and wife Luciana renewed their vows in St. Lucia in April 2013. The couple's daughters, Isabella, Gia and Alexia (Luciana's teenage daughter from a previous marriage) were in attendance and wore dresses to match their mother's blush-coloured draped chiffon tulip gown by designer Naeem Khan.

Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff might actually have enjoyed himself too much and indulged in his love for laddish fun. After the England cricket team lost their first match in the 2007 World Cup, Freddie went on a drunken bender which resulted in a 4am escapade on a pedalo.
