Tales From the Middle of Nowhere (Vol. 2): Where I Salute the Families of the Hillsborough 96

Posted: 14/09/2012 15:47

Now then comrades. Been a while I know. Been busy though innit? So... let's go back... way back...

I think the last time we spoke I was in the biggest retirement home in the world, that being the isle of Jersey. The gig was great as I recall. I was playing with my old comrades Primal Scream. They were mega. They played some of their new album. Sounded great. As always.

You might be aware of a story about a deadly spider or summat? A load of fabricated nonsense. Great night all the same though.

The next gig was in that other retirement home Bournemouth. Strange gig. Lots of punch-ups!! What the fuck?? It's an odd little place. It does have palm trees though... which is nice.

Next up was my spiritual home of Liverpool. Great show. Magnificent crowd. They never let you down them Scousers. While I'm at it let me say I'm writing this on the day that THE TRUTH has finally been exposed about the Hillsborough disaster. Respect to the family's of the 96 for exposing the lies of Thatcher's government. With my hand on my heart I salute you. Xxxxxx

Now... after that came a magical Friday night in London. Not sure where it came from but the magic happened. Monumental show. Incredible crowd. Unbelievable. One of the best. Nice one.

After that was Cardiff. Pretty fucking good. No fighting... which is quite rare in Wales. They were in fine voice though. I'm losing track now... might have been Nottingham next? It was! Nothing sticks in my mind about the gig apart from having some fun with a lad in the crowd about a hat or summat? Not sure. I'm sure it was fun though.

So to last night at the Roundhouse in London. Part of the iTunes Festival. Easy. Loved it. It's more like a TV show than a gig though. Not much in the way of atmosphere but pretty fucking good all the same. I now have five days off... which is good.

ONWARDS.

GD.

It was the police, NOT Thatcher.

Using the deaths of 96 people to make political statements is flat evil.

I thought it was the lies of the Police not the Thatcher Government that were exposed in the report?

It was! The police are no longer there to prevent crime or protect the public. It's worse now than back then.
Changing statements has been going on for many years. More recently they've been taking money from the press to divulge private information. Needs a clean up. Just look at how many complaints against the Police are actually upheld, a minute amount.
Pleased the for those associated with Liverpool FC that they have finally been shown not to be at fault. What a nightmare they have had to endure.

Very strange that the first report Thatcher recieved directly was from a senior MERSEYSIDE police source claiming the LFC fans were solely to blame for the events on that dreadful day. I didnt believe the police and it seems she didnt either - How do you manage to deduce that the Government were in any way to blame for the incident or the cover up?? The only liars I see throughout the whole sad episode are the judiciary over which the government have no control, the pathologist who clearly gave the same cause of death for all 96 en masse even though they were 96 seperate cases and the police who changed statements, opened the entry gates and shepherded all the fans into the same entry point in the Lepping lane end. At which point were the government to blame?? As a Liebour luvvie who toadied up to the king of toads (still makes me yak when I see your appearance at 10 Downing street wining and dining with a war criminal), his Home secretary Jack Straw had ample opportunity and time to put right the wrongs - how come that never happened??
