Meeting Reverend and the Makers

Posted: 04/09/2012 12:16

At V Festival in August, I was invited to interview Reverend and the Makers backstage at the Carling Refresh Rooms. Having only briefly met lead singer and spokesman for the band, Jon McClure, once before at an NME Awards, the prospect of chatting to someone on camera didn't seem as daunting as speaking to a total stranger. Discussing their upcoming tour, new album, Africa Express and thanks to the power of Twitter, we already felt like old friends by the end of it.

Previously to chatting to Jon, he'd taken to the stage to perform an exclusive acoustic set with his band, playing to a big, sweaty crowd of festival revelers. I laughed when he asked for a "JD and coke, please" half-way through this song, obviously forgetting who he was performing for. Don't bite the hand that feeds...
