Mother of two boys living with actor Robert ‘Bertie’ Portal in South London. Bertie is currently rowing 3000 miles across the Atlantic as part of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge to raise money for the charity Facing the World. Bertie and rowing partner James Cash have raised over £355,000 for the project and continue to make their way towards the finish of the race despite numerous problems including technical failures, a capsize and being stranded for eight days without oars. This is my account of their row and my life ashore as they battle their way across to the paradise that awaits them in Barbados. For regular updates, photos and videos of our two handsome heroes, please become a fan of their Facebook page, Bertie Portal and James Cash Facing The Atlantic.

The position I am in as Bert and James row across the Atlantic is pretty unique and emotions roll in like waves; some bigger than others and bringing with them the flotsam and jetsam of feelings, thoughts and fears. Not one single day has been like another during their crossing...

Blisters, Boils and Barnacles - Reasons Not to Row the Atlantic

More good news in this week as Robert 'Bertie' Portal and James Cash have now less than 1,000nms to row. It's strange how we all talk about them only having xxx miles further to row, as if they've just popped out for an afternoon's jolly on a river, picnic hamper...

There is something very romantic about saying goodbye to the man you love whilst you stand on the shore and watch him disappear off into the horizon. I could have almost been mistaken for being the French Lieutenant's Woman had I not had a ferry to catch to Tenerife with...

7 Comments | Posted 12 January 2012 | g:i A

I remember the time when my partner, actor Robert Portal, aka Bertie, told me he was planning to row the Atlantic for charity. How could I forget? It was our first date and to be honest, although I was suitably impressed, I was more concerned with fluttering my eyelashes at...
