Why Kanye's Heaven Saint Family Has Saved His Life

I've known two Kanyes in my time.Since he burst onto the scene as the intelligent rapper on the block with 2004's College Dropout album, he's transformed into this brilliant, bolshy, self-indulgent caricature - parading around the stage with bravado. And these days he's given himself a promotion to Yeezus status.

I've known two Kanyes in my time.

The stage Kanye: Since he burst onto the scene as the intelligent rapper on the block with 2004's College Dropout album, he's transformed into this brilliant, bolshy, self-indulgent caricature - parading around the stage with bravado. And these days he's given himself a promotion to Yeezus status.

This is the Kanye who I joined in Cannes, who brought the small sidewalk restaurant Le 72 Croisette to a standstill when he gave them an impromptu first listen of his album, and invited me to his table for an ice-cream. It was my birthday afterall. Such a gent!

This is the Kanye I watched walk down the red carpet of the 2009 MTV VMAs in New York swigging a bottle of neat booze with his then girlfriend Amber Rose, and later that evening hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons for his famous 'Imma let you finish' speech when he hijacked Taylor Swift's Award saying it belonged to Beyonce.

When I asked him about the moment at the screening of his fab movie Runaway London a year later, it was clearly still a touchy subject. "Taylor hasn't returned my calls," he frowned, adding he had apologized several times, before quickly moving on.

That was a dark time for Kanye, after the devastating passing of his beloved mother Donda, who had been there for him from day one, always championing him, this amazing matriarch was his biggest cheerleader who we'd often meet at events whenever he was in town.

It was only when Kanye met Kim, and began a family with her that he could finally smile again. You know, that big, wide, infectious Kanye grin that lights up a room.

Kanye: The family man. This is my favourite Kanye.

He's vulnerable, kind, and this Kanye doesn't take himself too seriously.

And can you believe he is even Tweeting about children's stuff! Noooo, this can't be the Kanye we know surely? Well, he's swapped his on stage rants for rants about making sales on kiddie apps. And in true Yeezy style, he doesn't hold back.

He addressed his 16.3million followers: "If a game is made for a 2 year old, just allow them to have fun and give the parents a break for Christ sake," adding: "That makes no sense!!! We give the iPad to our child and every 5 minutes there's a new purchase!!!"

In case that wasn't clear enough he declared:

"F*** any game company that puts in-app purchases on kids games!!!" Ouch.

Now with the birth of his adorable mini-me daughter North West, and newborn son Saint, Kanye has no problems devoting himself to the family that has arguably saved his life, taking him away from that dark place of his 2010 album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and has given him ample reason to smile again - not to mention winning the hand of the woman of his dreams Kim.

Gone are the days where you'll see Kanye hijacking the stage - watch out Miley!!! Just kidding.

Kanye seems perfectly content with attending his daughter's ballet classes and becoming daddy daycare...all the while making sure his rap game is on point. He Tweeted: "No offense to anyone... I'm asking everyone DON'T ASK ME FOR ANYTHING TILL AFTER I'M FINISHED WITH MY ALBUM."

Now there's the Kanye we know and love. . .
