It takes time to build a career, a relationship, a house. If we try to speed up the process, we are likely to become frustrated. Worse; we may build something that is less than what we have hoped. It's never too late to start over. If you were not happy with yesterday, try something different today. Do not become stagnant. Do better.

Choosing contentment as a way of life means you decide to focus on the beauty, joy, love, creativity, and even the pain or sorrow of all moments without resistance. Realize how awesome you are.

Realizing how grand you already are creates more joy and delight in your heart. That negative self-talk will diminish into the background and you will be better able to make decisions with ease. Knowing how awesome you are isn't egotistical or arrogant, it is vital. Because when you love yourself more, you love others more, too.

Make peace with your past so it does not spoil your present.

We live in a world where people are ashamed to face and confront themselves, their past and their wounds. A world where many people pretend to be happy when they are not, taking great care of the image they have in the eyes of the world when the inside is in ruins. Until we do not bring light into our dark world, the past will continue to haunt us. In addition, those painful experiences will have power over us to be their victims. So, remember, the past is good for two things: to learn from and to enjoy; learn from your mistakes and enjoy your memories.

Happiness is found within.

You are the only reason of your happiness. Do not rely on anyone else to be happy. As Jay Shetty puts it:

"Don't put the key to your happiness in someone else's pocket. It means that we cannot be happy without them. Because sometimes it's not people making us feel bad about ourselves, we are doing it to ourselves. We are told to 'be with someone' who makes you happy, when actually what we need to do is 'be someone' who makes you happy." Otherwise, we will always be lonely.

Don't' compare your life with others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

Too many days are wasted comparing ourselves to others and wishing to be something we are not. Everybody has their own strengths and weaknesses and it is only when you accept everything you are - and aren't - that you will truly succeed. If comparing is how you assess your worth, you will always be losing. Instead of trying to be as good as or better than others, focus your energy on being the very best version of yourself. "Comparison is the thief of joy." - Theodore Roosevelt

Be proactive.

Radiant people make things happen. They are proactive rather than reactive. They make their future. Realizing that you are responsible for what happens next in your life is both frightening and exciting. Moreover, when you can take responsibility for your words, actions, and behavior, you have more control of your destiny. Nothing ever happens if you do not make it happen. There are three kinds of people: Those who make things happen; those who watch things happen; and those who wonder what just happened! Which one are you?

Things always get better with time. Give time.
