Sonja Lewis is a former newspaper journalist for The Albany Herald (Georgia, US) and has also written for The Guardian (UK). Since 2004, she has run a successful communications consultancy. She writes a weekly column for sonjalewis.com and publishes short stories on her weblog.

She has extended experience in public sector communications with the Girl Scouts of the USA, the American Red Cross, The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, Habitat for Humanity International, the Royal Institute for the Blind and others. She is a member of the Society of Authors and English PEN and she also provides communications support to Pocket Living. Lewis holds a BA in journalism from Valdosta State University, Georgia, USA and a MA from University of Westminster, London, England. She is an African American woman who resides with her husband in London.
