Professor Green Closes Music Cube at Westfield Stratford : INTERVIEW

After taking in the stunningly pure vocals of Ava Lily, who helped you block out the horrendous choas of a shopping centre on the weekend, I got to sit down and chat with the Headliner, Professor Green.

If this is the first you are hearing of the MUSIC CUBE from Westfield, I'm afraid you've just missed out on the first dose of this exciting brand new music initiative from the London shopping centres.

Combining the best in design and technology, MUSIC CUBE is a unique immersive music experience, which played host to a series of intimate live performances from established acts as well as promising new acts. Westfield had been giving away 200 free tickets for each performance via their website.

The MUSIC CUBE gives fans and performers a chance to interact in a completely new way, with performers taking to the stage in a bespoke soundproof glass cube, with sound provided individually to audience member through state-of-the-art Sennheiser URBANITE headphones.

Some of my happiest moments have been dancing with complete abandon at a silent disco at Reading Festival, so this is a concept that immediately appealed. However, I did wonder whether I would feel less inclined to get my groove on knowing that the Westfield shoppers, who weren't lucky enough to gain their headphones, were passing by with a rather confused look in their eyes. Once you put on your headphones and plug into the Music Cube portal that is quickly forgotten. The unique circumstances of this gig forced the artists to give extra welly when it came to crowd interaction, in turn helping you to get fully in the zone. Proof of success came when you took off your headphones and heard a chorus of questionable vocals coming from your oblivious fellow audience members.

Adding further impact to the experience was a vibrating floor system, which gave you those bass induced rumbles through your legs and chest cavity - an element you come to expect from a 'normal' gig.

Those who weren't lucky enough to win their free VIP ticket were still be able to see (and hear) the performance live online via media partner KISS FM's website and via the Westfield website.

Visitors to each centre were also able to stream each act live to their mobile and tablet devices through Westfield's free Wi-Fi, allowing shoppers access to backstage content, artist interviews and a live Twitter Q&A.

As well as finding out about the experience from a performers point of view, we chatted about his third album, 'Growing Up In Public', collaborations, and his unfortunate Halloween collateral damage. Readers of my honest health blogs, will not be surprised by my accidental moment of over-sharing too...I can only apologize.

If you missed out on his brilliant performance on Sunday, you can catch Professor Green on tour, kicking off in Glasgow on November 28th.

You can watch his next single Little Secrets feat. Mr Probz here...
