Hair loss sufferers run higher risk of prostate cancer ..? This is just not true.
Several incorrect media articles over the last few days have been published stating middle-aged men with a certain balding pattern are at an increased risk of developing aggressive prostate cancer than men with no baldness. Well, this is highly inaccurate in my opinion and unfortunately caused a great deal of men unnecessary anxiety and stress.
Supposedly... Over 39,000 men aged 55-74 from a US cancer screening trial answered a questionnaire about their hair-loss pattern at age 45, using a pictorial tool.
Supposedly those who reported frontal and moderate hair-thinning on the crown of the head were 40% more likely to develop aggressive prostate cancer than men who reported no baldness.... Really?!
Supposedly there was no increased risk for any form of prostate cancer in men with other hair loss patterns, according to the study published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
What is funny about these studies is the are highly inaccurate and no plausible data at all to back it up.
