What Would Beyoncé Do?

Women who have achieved amazing things or broken down boundaries in society should be respected for what they have done. There is no need to be jealous of them or become overly concerned with who they are dating or the way they look.

March is the month where females, and of course males, celebrate International Women's Day.

A day when women are given recognition for their achievements in politics, culture and society in general.

Before 2016 even kicked off I decided to keep the following mantra in my head 'What Would Beyoncé Do?'

Similar to the acronym 'WWJD?' that you see on multi-coloured wrist straps, just with less connotations, more sass and a hell of a lot more booty.

Sorry Jesus.

Inappropriate religious jokes aside let's get real. I am not saying that Beyoncé is perfect. Though the fairy-tale image of her pretty much is.

She is an astute business woman, loving wife, and caring mother, even if she does put her daughter in inappropriate music videos (grrrr).

Beyoncé isn't afraid to comment on politics and openly backed Barack Obama in his campaigns to get in to and stay in the White House.

As well as having an actual brain, Queen B makes the most of her artistic talent and is loved for being confident about her curvy body.

In my opinion, Beyoncé, the fairy-tale version, is a brilliant female role model to celebrate on International Women's Day.

You do not have to worship Beyonce but I think it is important to look up to the strong, proud women in society.

I could just as easily have written this post about Serena Williams, Kate Winslet, Claire Balding, Adele, Michelle Obama, or my mum.

I am far from a feminist, but I am determined that men and women should be treated equally. It is crucial that as women; we know the world does not revolve around men.

Women who have achieved amazing things or broken down boundaries in society should be respected for what they have done. There is no need to be jealous of them or become overly concerned with who they are dating or the way they look.

Women should be celebrated!

To help you think about International Women's Day here are three top quotes from the Queen B herself to get you thinking:

1) "The most alluring thing a woman can have is confidence."

2) "Power is not given to you, you have to take it."

3) "I'm not bossy, I'm the boss."

If those quotes don't do it for you all you have do is get listening to the Beyoncé back catalogue - which I am probably doing right about now.

Happy International Women's Day!
