We started today filming a session with Bastille. In the middle of Palm Park in the basking sun. After performing Pompeii, Kyle from the band then decided to climb the tallest tree in the park. Only at SXSW does this type of behaviour seem totally normal.

Every year thousands of music geeks (I include myself in that stereotype) descend on Austin in Texas for South By South West. As reports from the UK speak of snow, out here it's beautiful blue skies and open road.

Majical Cloudz is the musical project of Montreal-based songwriter Devon Welsh, with producer and live collaborator Matthew Otto. Their introspective brand of synth-driven music is characterized by an almost architectural desire for balance, crafting songs that are as sonically minimal as they are emotionally complex, equally reliant on negative, hollow space and lush, warm textures.

Playing SXSW was a real honour. It's been something that I've wanted to do for a long time and to finally get out to Texas and do it was amazing. I had a couple of great showcases, played some really intimate sets, met loads of really cool people and saw some pretty crazy things.

Every spring, thousands of music industry executives and artists descend into the sleepy Texan metropolis of Austin to trade business cards, eat Mexican food, and get wasted. Getting hammered at SXSW is a music industry tradition that pre-dates both Nirvana and Napster.
