Out of the vast list of ace live music coming up next week, we've plucked out just five shows to tell you about. These are the unmissable gigs- the ones you'll be thinking about for weeks to come and splattering all over your Facebook news feed. Every single one of them is going to be a fantastic night for new music- so if you can make it down there, let them know!
While there is certainly merit in "seamlessness and efficiency", at Bristol's Watershed we wanted to do something with a little bit more joy in it. I have a deep respect for the city in which I was born and raised in. That pride increases not due to great feats of architecture, such as the intended arena, but due to pioneering initiatives such as the Bristol pound. I am proud to be part of a community that embraces asylum-seekers, refugees and immigrants and celebrates our diversity. I hope that in four years time I can add the fact we have a mayor to that list. Only time will tell and the clock is ticking.
If Labour's Marvin Rees is elected Mayor of Bristol on Thursday I for one will be celebrating. It will be a good day for Bristol. Many more people outside that city will rightly be inspired by Marvin's election. Bristol is a major city, a lively, exciting place with a strong local character and an appeal to the best and the brightest. It is a city with enormous potential, hampered by the absence of a big-city vision at a municipal level.
