John Terry stands accused of racially abusing QPR centre-half, Anton Ferdinand, brother of the man who replaced Terry as captain, Rio. The trial was initially scheduled to take place in February, but, as was announced this week is now to be suspended until July, removing the ability of the FA to put off making a decision on Terry's future until his guilt or otherwise was affirmed.
The England captain must have a formidable reputation and their integrity must be beyond reproach. They must give confidence to all stakeholders and inspire the England squad including the Ferdinand brothers Rio and Anton (if he were to be selected). The possibility of continous and disruptive negative headlines must have serious implications over John Terry's future captaincy of England.
