This weekend can't possibly match the drama of the final day last season, which culminated in Martin Tyler's iconic "Aguerooooo" commentary. However, the 'north London shoot-out' for the Champions League should still be pretty dramatic.
GNev is charming. Who knew? He's witty and urbane and more than willing to take the piss out of himself. His insights are relevant and lucid and he the scoring of a goal sometimes brings him to a very loud sexual climax which is nice.
His all-round knowledge of the game and impartial (almost) analysis is without doubt the best available to UK viewers. He mixes his down-to-earth persona with a wide array of facts and analysis to a joyous affect and - compared to his peers - makes the break in live action all the more bearable.
MOTD is a programme with no unique selling point. The biggest issues generally boil down to how bad and overpaid the presenters are or Lawro's hideous choice of shirt. MOTD does little more than lull me into sleep - and that's a terrible failing by the BBC.
