So London Fashion Week is over for another season, and as we all adjust to walking at an average pace on the pavement as opposed to hurtling along on those Somerset House cobbles, here is my retrospective of the week where all normal life stops, and fashion begins.

This year's Fashion's Night Out was seriously buzzing. The streets of Mayfair were jammed with fashionistas on the hunt for exclusive purchases and the opportunity to rub shoulders with the designers themselves.

Fashion's Night Out (aka FNO), the annual international shopping event and brainchild of US Vogue's Anna Wintour designed to help kickstart the economy, happened on Thursday and London is still buzzing from a night of parties, shopping and free champagne.

It's a Saturday afternoon and, having told me that my wardrobe is a little "tired", my girlfriend decides to take me shopping in Shoreditch. We go to a store called A.P.C. It's French, which is apparently justification for charging £75 for a t-shirt. 

One thing that I have spotted recently is how so many gents don't understand the concept of 'smart casual'.

Once upon a time, long before I moved to London, I used to enter Oxfam with a heady sense of adventure about the the delights I was sure to discover. And discover I did, knocking aside the elderly in my greedy quest to rifle through the rails, gathering great swathes of questionable but utterly brilliant items into my arms.

Folk is one of those understated, effortlessly cool clothing brands often spotted on trendy media types and music industry boys who want to look like they haven't tried too hard. Through combinations of intricately stitched patterns, beautiful fabrics or unusual, interesting cuts, for all it's seemingly simple design, Folk stands out because it's all about the detail.

The disused warehouse style location for Nike's European Media Summit which took place in London this week looked just like a set from a Spider-Man film.

It has to be said there are a lot of dapper chaps out there in London Town, but there are no excuses for some of the fashion nightmares that I see on a daily basis.
