Thankfully, like every year, my Dad came home with cards for me, my brother and sister to quickly scribble our names into, put in a envelope to then immediately walk into the living room, hand to our mother, watch her open them and then walk out to return to whatever we'd normally do on a Sunday afternoon. As you can tell, we're a very emotional family.
One thing is for sure - saying thank you is a nice thing to do. It makes you feel good, and makes the receiver feel valued. We may not subscribe to the hand written parchments of old, with ruler straight lines and wafty words of gratitude penned from inky quills, but we do still subscribe to basics of liking to give and liking to be thanked.
Following on from last weekend's Valentine's gift guide for girls, here are a few ideas for the boys.
As a soppy old romantic I absolutely love Valentine's Day. It's the most wonderful opportunity to show someone you love them through thoughtful actions, kind words and, of course, gifts. Whether you're looking to say 'I love you', want to ask her to move in or if you're about to pop the question, this weekend I've come up with a few gift ideas to hopefully make your girl smile.
I'm busy packing for Christmas in New York (woo!) at the mo so this is just a whole bundle of Christmas present fun with loads of stuff from some of my favourite brands and stores - more of a wish list than a shopping one - for you to have a quick nose at and for my friends and family to take 'inspiration' from...Cold, hard cash and Starbucks vouchers also accepted.
