Roots is the kind of production that critics adore but audiences will find hard to love. It's intellectual but slow, well-observed but without purpose and it's intriguing without ever being interesting.
In my biography on my Onward To Our Past® website you will see that I identify as a 'genealogical historian'. I personally believe these two disciplines go together like one of my favorite sandwiches, peanut butter and jelly.
I am certainly not cured of my fear of being tied down. But I know now that fantasising about a life that 'could' be means you miss out on the life you have. Head in the clouds is fine but feet on the ground is better.
