2013 promises to be one of the most transformative in tech ever. In fact, it's already started with the industry's biggest annual circus, CES, which saw the introduction of curved OLEDs, 4K TVs and tablets, 1080p smartphones, a smorgasbord of smartphone-connected gizmos, self-driving cars and the evolution of motion control.
I went to the recording of a TV show as a member of the audience and queued up with the audience. It was a pilot for a possible comedy panel show series and was being recorded by an experienced independent production company at a BBC studio site for (it seemed) possible transmission on a non-BBC channel.

Picture the scene, it's a Tuesday evening at the Novello Theatre just off the Strand and I am sat between Ronnie Corbett and Andrew Scott (Moriarty from Sherlock). Dotted around us are the American from Downton, a man from War Horse, Patricia Routledge and Olivia Coleman. It could not have turned out better.
