Guitar bands are manifold in London town, and it's been a while since that fact could be stated with any certainty. Tastes are reverting as live music played in intimate venues becomes a necessary constant in these cash-strapped, culturally arid times.

The evening was planned as a retrospective of the album that changed everything for British music. Never Mind The B******* sprang angrily into life in 1977, an original musical work that openly criticised a culturally cobwebbed United Kingdom. But the organisers do not get politeness this evening. Instead they get cat calls and verbal threats.

Steve raises his voice, a bit of the old punk rage perhaps asserting itself again after all these years. "You had to work to go and see a band back in '77, had to get off your arse and go to a gig, and then go to a record store to purchase the product. There was a lot more work involved. Now it's just mindless consumption."
