A New Year doesn't have to mean unattainable resolutions. This year is all about bettering each other and celebrating every type of change no matter how big or small.

Want to live a more sustainable life? And don't know where to start? I've put together a list of 12 ways to make difference in many aspect of your life.
Insider Tip: Write these down and place somewhere you can see it as a reminder.

1. NO FAST FASHION
Stop or reduce buying at places like Zara, H&M, UNIQLO & Primark. Need inspiration watch the documentary The True Cost.

2. SAY NO TO PLASTIC
When at the super market say no to plastic bags/produce wrapped in plastic and opt for paper or better yet bring your own reusable bags. Another big one, when ordering take-out say no to disposable cutlery.

3. BE PRESENT & LISTEN
Now a day our mobile devices are our most personal connections. This year try to have more human interactions & start paying attention to the word. Start by calling instead of texting or watching/listening to the news before work.

4. BUY LOCAL
Supporting local brands, merchants & farmers not only does it help the local economy, it usually means better quality & unique items.

5. RECYCLE
Incorporate recycling into your home or work place. Educate yourself on your local recycling rules and make signs for everyone to remember.

6. THINK LESS WASTE
When doing anything, think of ways to make each action less impactful on our planet. For example, love Starbucks, buy a reusable mug and get you refills without creating any waste.

7. SWITCH TO BAMBOO
Easy way to reduce plastic in our landfills, start with a toothbrush!

8. LESS UBER- MORE WALK
Make an effort e to say no to taxis or Ubers and take the tube or walk. Good for the environment & your wallet.

9. REDUCE YOUR RED MEAT
Take a note from Leonardo DiCaprio's Before the Flood and eat less red meat. If you haven't seen it, it's a must.

10. COMPOST
Buy composting bags and educate yourself on your local compost rules. Remember when cooking or throwing away scraps of food to use the bags.

11. BUY LESS
If you don't NEED it, don't buy it. If it's on sale and you don't NEED it, don't buy it!

12. GIVE BACK
Find a few charities that interest you and sign up to be a volunteer. Don't have time, donate online to those charities or any charity around the world. Insider Tip: For this year's birthday celebration instead of party or pub gather all your favorite people and volunteer!

I know these can seem daunting but remember to choose 1 or 2 in areas where you know you can stick with it like morning coffee, volunteering or just walking. Another tip get your family & friends involved the more the merrier and you can hold each other accountable. And remember to have fun with it and don't be tough on yourselves if you forget or loose track. Pick up where you left off and every little change helps.
