By day, I recruit the best talent for The Huffington Post UK and AOL. However, my true passion lies in the world of Formula 1 - sadly as a fan, not a participator. As a 12-year-old I heard something about a Nigel Mansell wrapping up the World Championship in a record breaking year - his departure for the IndyCar series paved the way for a Damon Hill to drive for Williams-Renault in 1993 -he will forever be my childhood hero. Seeing Damon win the championship in 1996, and take the underdog of Jordan Grand Prix to their first win in Belgium 1998 are two of my fondest memories.

My blog on The Huffington Post UK aims to highlight the passions of the fan. Sitting amongst the Tifosi at Monza 2011 showed me how a country can be so wrapped in the dream of one team: Ferrari. Sitting in the cold, wet windy summer of 2008 at Silverstone showed the determination of the British fan in seeing Lewis Hamilton dominate. 2013 is the last year of F1 before a whole new set of regulations come in. Will Red Bull see out their dominance of the past 3 years in style, or will Lewis' move to Mercedes reap a surprise? I'll be blogging along the way to find out.

With the teams sorted, I'm moving on to the personalities of the sport. The supposedly best drivers in the world in 2012 (and a well funded Venezuelan) are headed by Sebastian Vettel, who took his third championship. He may have taken the title but the story isn't quite that simple....

During the 2000 Formula One season, you had two drivers gunning to take the world title: Michael Schumacher, already a double world champion, aged 31 and driving for Ferrari, and Mika Hakkinen, also a double world champion, and driving for an Adrian Newey -designed car (McLaren). Schumacher won, and the...

In 1995, a soon-to-be double world champion announced he had signed a long-term agreement to drive for Ferrari from 1996. His name was Michael Schumacher. Ferrari had not won a championship since 1983, and their only win in 1995, was at Canada with Jean Alesi.

Ferrari was not seen...

Formula One IS a Sport!

Twice half its length. Witty, i know.

Anyway, it's a Tuesday afternoon, and I am sitting just outside Plaza Mayor in Madrid, Spain at 3:32pm according to my iPad. Just had a great, albeit interesting roast duck cannelloni and about to have a third glass of Estrella cerveza. This...

Silverstone - Simply the Home of F1
