Sherlock Star Benedict Cumberbatch Joins 'Where There's A Will'

Sherlock Star Benedict Cumberbatch In Lead Comedy Role

PRESS ASSOCIATION -- Benedict Cumberbatch is to star in Irish comedy Where There's A Will.

Alongside the Sherlock star, Charlie Cox and Jenna Harrison are also attached to the Maurice Phillips-directed film, which has been developed by actor Danny Midwinter, who is also producing.

"I've been working on this for five years, trying to get it off the ground and all of a sudden it's falling into place," Danny told Screen Daily.

"Benedict read the script and said he loved it and thought it was so different to anything else he had seen," he added.

The film, which is described as having "a feel of Waking Ned with the banter of The Quiet Man [the 1952 film with John Wayne]", is about three brothers who go on the run to Ireland from the mob in London after thinking they have inherited a pub, only to discover it's a funeral parlour.

Penned by Ian D Fleming and Maurice, Where There's A Will plans to shoot in Ireland in 2012.

Benedict, best known for his portrayal of iconic detective Sherlock Holmes in the BBC One series, will next be seen in Steven Spielberg's War Horse and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy with Colin Firth and Gary Oldman.

He will also be the voices of both Smaug the Dragon and the Necromancer in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit.
