Johnny Vegas Explains Stand-Up Comedy And Dealing With Hecklers On Show Me The Funny

Johnny Vegas: Comedy Is All About Crowd Control

PRESS ASSOCIATION -- Johnny Vegas has revealed stand-up comedy is like crowd control.

The seasoned pro, 39, appeared as a guest judge on ITV1's Show Me The Funny with some advice for the hopefuls before they performed to a crowd of boisterous rugby players.

"It is as much about crowd control as it is about making people laugh," he told the contestants.

"If they're not loving your material, really work the hecklers. Belittle them."

Some of the comics struggle to keep up with the rowdy audience during the gig, but contestant Stuart Goldsmith appears to have more luck than the others in dealing with the crowd.

Six contestants remain in the contest, battling it out to win their own Christmas DVD, a UK tour and £100,000.

This week's show will be screened on ITV1 tonight (Aug 15) at 9pm.
