Speaker Of The House Of Commons To Join His Wife Sally Bercow In The 'Big Brother' House?

RUMOUR MILL: Speaker Of The House Of Commons To Join His Wife In The 'Big Brother' House?

The speaker of the House of Commons is reportedly considering joining his wife Sally Bercow in the Big Brother house.

In a shocking move that would put an end to press speculation that he’s planning to divorce his wife for her antics on the reality show and raise huge questions about his professional role as speaker, John Bercow is said to be contemplating an offer from Channel 5.

A show source told The Huffington Post UK: “Everyone at Elstree is talking about John joining the show.

“I spoke to someone there last night and they said he’s considering the offer, but David Cameron is not impressed.”

These claims come as bookies William Hill announced their odds of John and Sally Bercow splitting before the end of Big Brother are at 5/1.

Will the speaker risk his parliamentary career to save his marriage?

The Huffington Post UK’s political editor, Chris Wimpress, thinks not: "It sounds highly unlikely given the Speaker reportedly begged his wife not to go on the show in the first place.

“And as for the Prime Minister trying to block this from going through, that seems even more unlikely. The PM and the Speaker don't exactly get on like a house on fire so there'd be nothing to gain for Cameron by intervening in this."

Bercow is due back in parliament, when it returns from summer recess, in 10 days, so if the rumours are true he will only have a short stay with his wife and the rest of the D-list housemates.

The show insider also confirmed that Katie Price, who was rumoured to be joining Big Brother, will not be entering the show, stating: “There’s no way she’s going to do it.”
