A 13-year-old boy died on Monday after being stabbed at the weekend in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, police said.
Jon Wilson was fatally injured in an altercation in the early hours of Sunday morning, at 02:40, after being chased down a street in Kilmarnock and set upon. The teenager had been severely beaten, but was being treated at Crosshouse Hospital near Kilmarnock, until he died from his injuries.
One family member told Scotland's Daily Record: "Jon moved home from Auchinleck to Kilmarnock to stay with his mum and he kept himself to himself. I don't know what he was doing out at that time of night."

Strathclyde Police said a 16-year-old youth had been arrested over the incident. He is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.
