Severe Storm Warning For Britain Over Weekend

Severe storms are expected to hit the UK over the weekend, as the tropical storm Katia makes its way across the Atlantic from the United States.

On Sunday and into Monday, the remains of the storm are due to settle over the North of England, Northern Ireland and Scotland, bringing the risk of severe gales and storm force winds in places.

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning ofor a large part of the north and west of the country to cover all possibilities.

Chief Forecaster at the Met Office, Eddie Carroll said: "Although it will be very windy everywhere, it is uncertain as to exactly which parts of the country will see the very strongest winds."

He added: "At the moment there is fair amount of uncertainty about the track and also the strength of the winds around the depression."

The Met Office is expected to update its forecast over the course of the weekend.
