Design company Dyson has revealed its eagerly-awaited new product, a fan heater called the Dyson Hot.
Based on the firm’s Air Multiplier fan, the ‘Hot’ works by drawing in air, which is accelerated through a 2.5mm opening to create a warm jet.
The direction of the flow is channelled by an airfoil-shaped ramp.
Speaking to The Huffington post UK, Tom Crawford, the brand’s head of product design, said: “We've built heating elements into the base, but it [the Dyson Hot] remains cool to touch. Other heaters see heat rise straight up but ours evenly distributes it across the room.”
Lead by Crawford, 22 engineers worked on the two-year project to convert the Air Multiplier design into a heater.
According to Sir James Dyson, the company’s founder, other fans on the market suffer from “inefficient motors” and “dust friendly grills”, leaving you with “a partially heated room and a worrying burning smell”.
The inventor insists his latest innovation “produces no smell and heats the whole room”.
The device boasts a maximum output of 37 degrees but can also be set to one degree, allowing it to be used as a cooling fan.
