PRESS ASSOCIATION -- Charlie Sheen has told TV viewers his war with the network and producers of Two And A Half Men is over.
Appearing on the Tonight Show, the sacked former star of the sitcom seemed in a forgiving mood towards his old workplace.
Asked by host Jay Leno if he was still angry at the makers and the CBS network for firing him, he said no, he would have fired himself. Then he added with a laugh: "Well, maybe not like they did."
Sheen was dumped last March after he railed against his bosses and they blasted him for being a drug-abusing, reckless playboy.
Sheen's Tonight Show appearance publicised a Comedy Central roast of him showing on Monday, the same night that Ashton Kutcher debuts as his replacement on the hit comedy.
"It was bad," Sheen said, summing up the clash, "and I own my part in that and I just want to make everything right."
Asked why he thought he should have been fired, Sheen explained: "I should have been a little more responsible about the condition I was showing up in."
He told Leno he had not had any contact with his former castmates, but said he felt no animosity towards them. His formerly strained relationship with his father, actor Martin Sheen, was "totally repaired", he said, adding: "We're buddies again."
On Monday, Two And A Half Men returns for a new season with Kutcher replacing Sheen.
Sheen praised Kutcher as being "accomplished", and when asked if he had any advice for his successor, he said he would like to give him a hug and tell him: "Make me proud, dude."
