Gilmour Family In Trouble Over Beach Hut

Gilmour Family In Row With Council Over Beach Hut

The Pink Floyd star, David Gilmour, must pull down a beach hut in the drive of his Grade II-listed seafront mansion, or face prosecution from the local council.

Polly Samson, Gilmour's wife, told Brighton and Hove City Council that they use the hut to store bikes. However, the council told the family that the yellow hut is an eyesore in the conservation area.

A Council spokeswoman said in a statement: "We have had a complaint from a member of the public and are legally obliged to act". Gilmour's wife appealed over the decision but lost.

It has not been a good year for the Gilmour family as their 21 year-old son, Charlie, recently began his 16-month jail sentence for a drug-fuelled rampage.

The Gilmours have been told that the hut must be dismantled by the 1st October. Failure to comply would be likely to result in the council charging the family to have it removed.
