The Primetime Emmy Awards took a very literal approach to red carpets this year with a whole constellation of stars (that's the collective name, right?) arriving in various shades and hues of the colour.

Blue and white may have been acceptable alternatives but the majority of the actresses present plumped for scarlet with a few veering off towards the pink and the purple parts of the spectrum.
It started out looking like a cute trend with Emmy award winner Kate Winslet in Elie Saab, then it got a bit overwhelming. And then it started to get ridiculous. And then it was so ridiculous we put it back in the 'trend' box.
