The US state of Georgia executed convicted murderer Troy Davis on Wednesday in a case that drew international attention because of claims by his attorneys that he may have been innocent.
"I was not responsible for what happened that night. I did not have a gun. I was not the one who took the life of your father, son, brother", Davis said before he was put to death by lethal injection. He was convicted of killing an off-duty police officer in 1989.
