'Footloose' Star Kenny Wormald Feels Pressure Of Matching Kevin Bacon's Original Film

'Footloose' Star Braces Himself For Backlash From Fans Of Original

PRESS ASSOCIATION -- Footloose star Kenny Wormald has admitted he felt pressure not to "mess up" the remake of the hit 1980s film.

Wormald, who started his career as a backing dancer, takes on the role made famous by Kevin Bacon in the 1984 original.

And the 27-year-old promised the remake stays true to the original story.

"We didn't stray too far away, we're all huge fans of the original, we didn't want to mess up," he said at the movie's Los Angeles premiere.

However, Wormald confessed keen-eyed fans would spot a few deviations to the plotline of the film, which sees a city teen move to a town where dancing has been banned.

"It is updated for today's generation and the relationships in the film are explained a bit more, and some of the plot is a bit different," he explained. "But it's definitely true to the original."

Wormald stars alongside Julianne Hough in the movie, while the role of preacher Shaw Moore, originally played by John Lithgow, is filled by Dennis Quaid.
