Women Under 25 Turn To Online Sperm Donors After Giving Up On Love

Women as young as 18 years old are signing up to online sperm donors after feeling frustrated with their search for ‘Mr. Right’, according to a recent poll.

The research by The Sunday Times, found that young women in their early twenties make up a quarter of members on sites such as babydonor.com and co-parent-search.com.

Deciding to literally cut out the middle man and become a single parent by choice, experts worry that these women are risking their health by purchasing unscreened sperm online, outside of a licensed clinic.

These recent findings coincide with previous research, which found that women under 25 made up one to two per cent of women checking into fertility clinics.

“Now there is an emphasis on women waiting until the time is right to have children,” Professor of women and gender at Warwick University told the Daily Mail.

“Even though these women are young, they believe that they have the support structure and feel emotionally and financially independent: for them it is the right time.”
