Gaddafi Death: Colonel's Last Hiding Place

Colonel Gaddafi fled to hide in a drainage pipe underneath a highway in the coastal town of Sirte, according to reports by Libyan TV channels.

The opening to the ignoble underground hole-up was spray painted with the words "contemptible Gaddafi" and "God is greatest". The dead body of a man thought to be a pro-Gaddafi fighter was found lying outside the opening.

Previously he was thought to have been hiding near the Algerian border, though there have also been reports that an underground bunker was discovered underneath the ruins of Gaddafi's house in Sirte
