More Autumn Sunshine Over Hot Half-Term

More Hot Weather To Come: October Sunshine Keeps On Smiling

Sunshine will smile on Britain over the weekend, with forecasters predicting that temperatures will top 20 degrees in some parts of the UK.

The warm weather updates will be good news for children on their half-term break, with the sunshine predicted to last over the next week.

According to Dan Williams from the Met Office, the South East will experience most of the warm weather.

Scotland and the west will mainly be cloudy, marked with occasional spells of sunshine.

This is thought to be the last of the unseasonably mild weather that Britain has been experiencing this autumn, with heavy rain forecast, along with “gale-force winds” for the north and west.

"On Sunday it will be fine and dry with unseasonably mild temperatures for this time of year, with London and South East reaching 20C."

"However, there will a risk of gales in exposed locations, and the weather will continue to be unsettled throughout the week, with a mixture of sunshine and showers expected in most regions."

"The rain will be heaviest in the West and South West, with strong winds expected but above average temperatures."

With many Britons expected to take a 'staycation' over the half term break, traffic warnings are severe.

Network Rail advises everyone to check times before they travel, as there are a number of engineering works, while London tube services are erratic. The Victoria line is set to be closed and the District and Circle Lines, Hammersmith and City and Waterloo and City lines all have partial closures.

The AA advises checking your car is safe for travelling at this time of year, and to leave extra time for long journeys.
