Amy Winehouse Inquest To Reveal The Truth Behind Her Final Days

The long-awaited inquest into the death of Amy Winehouse is due to start later today.

The Back To Black singer was found dead at her home in Camden, north London, on 23 July.

Since then, various explanations have been suggested for the cause of her death. Many people have pointed the finger at her previous battle with alcohol, after toxicology tests showed "no illegal substances" in her system at the time of her death.

The 27-year-old had well-documented addictions to both drugs and alcohol but her father, Mitch Winehouse, told mourners at her funeral his daughter had been the happiest she had been in a long time in the weeks before she died.

A family statement at the time of the toxicology report said: "Results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy's system at the time of her death.

"Results indicate that alcohol was present but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death.

"The family would like to thank the police and coroner for their continuing thorough investigations and for keeping them informed throughout the process. They await the outcome of the inquest in October."

Since her death, Winehouse's 2006 album Back to Black has become the UK's best-selling album of the last decade.
