The Scissor Sisters will head a line-up of international musicians at a festival to herald the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The free festival, called River of Music, will feature performers from all around the world on the weekend of 21 and 22 July.
The London 2012 Festival director, Ruth Mackenzie, enthused about the event: "Of all the ideas we have had, it is probably one of the most ambitious. The idea that we can work with musicians from across the world is just simple and gorgeous."
All continents will be represented, with The Scissor Sisters representing The Americas on stage at the Tower of London. There will also be performers from Europe in Trafalgar Square and Somerset House, from Asia in Battersea Park, Africa in Jubilee Gardens, and Oceania in Greenwich.
Artists due to perform on behalf of Europe have yet to be announced.
