Dermot O'Leary has denied the X Factor is "a fix" after controversial teenager Frankie Cocozza survived another week in the show.
Boyband The Risk and singer Johnny Robinson were voted off the ITV1 programme in a double elimination yesterday.
The phrase "fix factor" started trending on Twitter after Gary Barlow's act, 19-year-old Frankie stayed, despite being favourite to get the chop following a lacklustre performance.
X Factor host Dermot defended the show, saying: "Can tell most of you aren't happy, but if the acts don't get the votes they go out.
"It's that simple. Talk of a fix is a joke."
The presenter's tweet comes as Louis Walsh and Gary are said to be no longer speaking behind the scenes.
The pair were seen arguing on Saturday night's live programme, telling each other to "shut up", after Louis criticised Frankie's performance.
Sunday's results show was watched by a peak audience of 14.2 million, a 47% share of viewing.
ITV said the average of 12.3 million for the double eviction show made it the most-watched episode of this series.
The Risk were axed after they were told they had received the lowest number of votes from viewers. Camp singer Johnny and Kitty Brucknell had to take part in a sing-off and the judges all decided to save Kitty.
