Twitter Honours Armistice Day With Virtual Remembrance Service

Twitter remembered the fallen today in a virtual Remembrance Day service, conducted by the Methodist Church. The service will occur again on Remembrance Sunday, also from 10:15.

Twitter's Remembrance service today featured prayers and readings as well as hymns and music linked from YouTube.

At 11am GMT, a two-minute Twitter silence was honoured, in respect for those who have fallen in battle in all wars.

@Poppy_Tweet tweeted updates of the service, including readings from the President of the Methodist Conference, the Reverend Leo Osborn.

Reverend Joanne Cox wrote a special Twitter sermon, which she will release in short tweets.

She said: "Remembrance is a powerful opportunity for us all to stop in the midst of life. As we stop, and as we remember people who have fought for peace in so many different ways, we are also responding to the invitation to be people of peace and courage ourselves."
