Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley 'Axed': Will Johnny Vaughan Replace Them On Daybreak?

Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley have been "axed" from ITV's flagship Daybreak programme, if reports from Saturday's newspapers are to be believed.

Sources at the show told a newspaper that the pair - who famously swapped sides from the BBC - failed to capture the public's imagination.

Daybreak only receives 700,000 daily viewers - half the amount of its BBC rival.

The two presenters were hired on multi-million pound deals.

The news comes hours after former Big Breakfast host Johnny Vaughan abruptly left his Capital FM breakfast show.

Vaughan made his name as host of the Channel 4 hit show with co-host Denise Van Outen.

On Friday, Johnny Vaughan abruptly left 95.8 Capital FM after nearly eight years as the London station's breakfast DJ. The outspoken presenter parted ways with the station, with immediate effect.

His co-host Lisa Snowdon will continue to front the breakfast show with stand-in Greg Burns from Monday, with a replacement full time co-host to be announced by the Global Radio-owned station in due course.

In a statement Vaughan said: "I have just loved doing this job, but after all these years of getting up in the middle of the night, I really think the time is right to hand over the microphone to someone else.
