Student Emlyn Evans-Loude Guilty Of Killing Friend And Hiding Body In Airing Cupboard

Student Guilty Of Battering Friend To Death With Dumb Bell

A student in London who beat fellow his friend to death using a dumb bell bar and hid his body in an airing cupboard has been found guilty of murder.

Emlyn Evans-Loude, 27, attacked his friend Michal Mazur after inviting him back to his Leytonstone flat for a drink on 11 January this year. The Metropolitan University student then spent the next morning phoning friends to help him dispose of the body, leaving one a voicemail message saying: "I've got a stiff in my flat".

"I'm not used to this shit," he added.

The body of Polish-born Mazur, who also attended London Met, was found stuffed in Loude's airing cupboard in East London.

The jury at the Old Bailey heard how Loude fled after the murder and was later arrested in Devon, where he had grown up.

Crown Prosecution Service lawyer Barry Graves said Loude "tried to cover up the evidence of the awful events in his flat and hide Michal", a local paper reported.

"This was a particularly callous murder and there was little evidence he acted in self-defence, as he claimed."

Loude had previously argued he retaliated after 28-year-old Mazur became violent but the jury dismissed the defence. He is due to be sentenced on Friday.
