The Voice: Black Eyed Peas Star Will-i-am Signs Up For The Show

Will-i-am Signs Up For 'The Voice'

Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am has been confirmed as a coach for new BBC1 talent search The Voice.

He had been widely expected to join the show after his name was linked with the programme several weeks ago.

The producer and chart star joins Jessie J as a coach on the show, which has already proved a success in Europe and the US.

Will.i.am said: "I'm proud to be doing The Voice UK because the UK was the first place I saw success. It's the place I'm the most creative outside of home."

BBC1 controller Danny Cohen said: "He is a huge star who will bring a unique creativity to the show."

The inclusion of the I Gotta Feeling star may raise speculation that Cheryl Cole - for whom he acts as manager - may have some involvement in the show.

She was axed from the US version of The X Factor earlier in the year.

The Voice - which is tipped to be the BBC's answer to The X Factor - launches in the spring, hosted by Holly Willoughby and Reggie Yates.
