I'm A Celebrity: Dougie Poynter Crowned King Of The Jungle

Last Men Standing - Who Has Been Crowned King Of The Jungle?

Dougie Poynter has become the winner of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here 2011. The McFly drummer beat his new best friend, TOWIE star Mark Wright, to be crowned king of the jungle.

Mark said Doguie deserved to win and that he was "the nicest, kindest person in the entire world". Dougie, looking visibly shocked, before taking his seat on his jungle throne, said: "I'm lost for words. It's been the best couple of weeks of my life."

Mark and glamour model Emily Scott may have set tongues wagging with their jungle flirtations, but Mark's relationship with Dougie turned out to have far more depth, with the pair claiming they will be best friends for life.

Mark said: "I'm so proud of us both, Doug." He added: "There's only one negative to this - I'm up against my best friend... we'll be best friends for life."

Their unlikely friendship went from strength-to-strength during the show, facing its greatest test when they were both picked to be the last men standing in the jungle

Left alone, the pair formed a great comic partnership. Mark said: "Let’s do some mad shit, let's do each others hair," before they embarked on their final Bush Tucker trial.

They won their gruesome trial and afterwards ordered a gluttonous meal of pizza, lasagne, milkshakes and garlic bread, muttering "this is better than sex".

For Dougie, taking part in I'm A Celebrity was "the most super fun life changing experience ever" and for Mark it was a chance for him to show people who watched The Only Way Is Essex the other side to him… a softer side, as it turned out.

He relished hugging his campmates and having "deep and meaningful conversations" with Dougie.

Dougie said: "This time last year I was at rock bottom and now I'm the happiest man alive."

On Friday night former Olympian Fatima Whitbread took the bronze medal, but failed to gain a place in the final showdown.

Whitbread admitted it "would have been nice to go through the finish line first", but said she was up against some "very tough contenders".

Coronation Street's Antony Cotton was also booted out on what was the show's penultimate day.
