Animal lovers may want to look away now – for an upmarket London store is selling tinned reindeer pate as a Christmas treat.
Harvey Nichols is flogging the £15 cans as “an Arctic delicacy” and it is so popular it has already sold out.
The 190g tins contain cognac, spices and reindeer meat – which is farmed in accordance with EU legislation.
The meat is from Sweden and is labelled as a “farm raised relative of Rudolph”.
But animal rights group Viva! Has slammed the store for stocking the food, supplied by London company Edible.
Spokesman Justin Kerswell said: “What kind of sicko would relish cracking open a tin of reindeer pate come Christmas day? And what kind of store would think it appropriate to sell it?”
Lidl has been criticised for selling reindeer steaks in the past.
